Progress Report
1. Incident Object Description and Exchange Format (IODEF)
The Committee:
- endorsed the use of the IODEF NZ Data sets.
- adopted the IODEF NZ Data sets as a recommended e-GIF Standard.
The Committee noted that in 24 months, when this comes up for recommendation to go to mandatory status, the Committee expects an integrated web solution to be in place. This will make it easy for agencies to comply with the IODEF standard.
2. e-GIF Management Committee Draft Work Programme
The Committee discussed the key themes of the Draft Work Programme and agreed the following:
Theme number 1: Life cycle management of information created by and on behalf of government
The Committee:
- agreed that the theme would specify documents and records created by and on behalf of government
- agreed that the work focus is upon supporting Archives NZ
- agreed that building the capability and the culture in the public sector as a whole was also an important work focus.
Theme number 2: Provide input to planning/scoping of large projects
The Committee:
- agreed that this part of the work programme would go ahead as noted with the clarification that the aim was to influence the planning and design phases of all large projects, not just those confined to those with a significant IT aspect.
Theme number 3: Identity management
The Committee:
- agreed that the Committee would focus on supporting DIA in their role as lead agency
- agreed that the Committee would support a work programme lead and delivered by a Biometrics Forum/Working Group.
Theme number 4: Geospatial / location-based information
The Committee:
- agreed that the Police be supported as the lead agency for the development of the NAR
- agreed that the goal was to ensure that the reuse of location based information was enhanced.
Theme number 5: Making it easier to do business in New Zealand
The Committee:
- agreed that the theme should be divided with a focus on leveraging work that has already been done to reduce compliance. This focuses upon supporting MED in their lead role in enabling standard business reporting, supporting and guiding IRD as Lead Agency for XBRL standard.
Theme number 6: A "Single Window on Government" exists for businesses
The Committee:
- agreed that this part of the theme is about border agencies providing a single window on government for businesses.
Theme number 7: Re-use of health-based information for improved Social Outcomes
The Committee:
- agreed that this part of the work programme will be clarified so that there are clear milestones and deliverables at the end of the year.
