e-GIF Management Committee Summary 31 May 2005
1. Authentication report
The committee noted that the five working groups for the Authentication Standards project have been set up. The scope of the project has been ratified and work is under way on the standards.
The publication of the standards is scheduled for April 2006.
2. Emergency Services and Government Administration (ESA) Geospatial Data Standard
The committee discussed the timeline for making the ESA Geospatial Data standard mandatory and agreed that a letter would be sent to the stakeholders written to previously stating that:
Work is progressing on providing the structures necessary to make the standard mandatory.
Critical milestones in this process will be completed before the end of 2005 so that a decision can be taken on when the standard will be made mandatory.
The intent is that the standard will be made mandatory at the earliest opportunity.
3. Review of the e-GIF Management Committee
The draft report of the review of the e-GIF Management Committee was presented. The final report will be presented to the State Services Commissioner.
As part of the final report it will be suggested that there should be a programme to rotate the membership of the committee.
The e-GIF team will produce a document outlining the options for change arising from the recommendations in the review report.
4. Draft for e-GIF version 3 document
The draft e-GIF document (version 3) was presented to the committee.
The committee endorsed the E-government Unit’s strategy and approach for the document review.
The committee agreed:
to provide feedback from their agencies on the new version of the e-GIF by 21 June 2005
the feedback will be incorporated into the e-GIF document (version 3.0) which will then be published as a draft
at the same time as the e-GIF document (version 3.0) is published as a draft, the draft version will be sent to a reference group to test its validity
to release the e-GIF document (version 3.0) for consultation with all public service agencies, and relevant state sector and local government agencies after feedback from the reference group has been incorporated into both documents
following the public consultation the final document will be published by 30 September 2005.
5. Roadmap for e-GIF activities
The committee are to be asked for their view on the important issues to be addressed in the e-GIF programme.
The E-government Unit will consider the suggestions and then finalise the plan of work for the e-GIF team.
