Discussion Papers

There are currently two discussion papers on CVLs:

Research into Controlled Value Lists across State Agencies

In 2005 a student at Victoria University developed a discussion paper on government agencies use of CVLs. The work undertaken involved:

  • Interviews with six government agencies regarding CVL usage relevant to Extensible Name and Address (XNAL) standard.
  • Identification of four success factors required for a successful implementation of CVLs.
  • Development of a CVLs prototype using Fedora Digital Object Repository.

The discussion paper concludes that:

  • Current usage of CVLs by government agencies varies greatly.
  • A larger survey is required.
  • Further investigation is required to determine if Fedora Digital Object Repository would help government agencies resolve current problems with CVLs implementation.
