Part 1 - Overview of NZ SAMS
Overview of Part 1
Readers of Part 1 should be familiar with XML technologies and have a broad understanding of security assertion messaging concepts. The Security Assertion Messaging Framework, published at www.e.govt.nz to support the suite of authentication standards, is designed to assist readers in this respect.
In addition to the Security Assertion Messaging Framework, preparatory reading of the following documents is recommended:
- Documents pertaining to the All-of-government Authentication Programme published at www.e.govt.nz.
- Guide to Authentication Standards for Online Services published at www.e.govt.nz.
- SAML v2.0 Executive Overview and Technical Overview documents in the Auxiliary and Outreach Information section of the Security Services (SAML) Technical Committee (OASIS SSTC) web pages published at www.oasis-open.org.
- Conformance and compliance requirements are located in section 4.5 and in summary in section 7.
Part 2 contains complex technical material suitable for enterprise architects, security analysts and developers.
