Authentication Workshops

The State Services Commission has developed workshops to provide a forum for agencies to learn more about the products and services offered by the all-of-government authentication programme.

These half-day workshops are designed to provide agency staff with an enhanced understanding of authentication, it's standards, risk assessments and how to implement the Government Logon Service.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The workshops are aimed at policy and operations staff who have a role in designing and delivering online services.  People who will find these workshops useful include:

  • Project managers
  • E-business managers
  • Technical analysts and architects
  • Business analysts
  • Design advisors
  • Security analysts

If you require more information about which workshop to attend or want to know more about the technical level of a particular workshop please contact us.

There is no charge to attend the workshops.

WORKSHOPS

A. Authentication Overview

If you have a role in leveraging online channels or you want to find out more about authentication, take part in a high level discussion about authentication, identity and privacy.  This workshop will help you to develop a better understanding of the all-of-government authentication programme and the igovt services.

This workshop sets the context for the other workshops and we strongly recommend people who are not familiar with current Authentication practices attend the Authentication Overview before the other workshops.

B. Integration with the Government Logon Service (GLS)

Public service departments have now been directed by cabinet to use the GLS when implementing or upgrading online authentication services.  This workshop will explain the more technical details and how to integrate GLS into your existing business process.  It will also provide an overview of the commitment required and how SSC can help you deliver a secure all-of-government logon management system for your customers.

C. Authentication Standards

The Authentication Standards support the establishment and on-going confirmation of identity for users of your online services. Presented jointly by the SSC and the Department of Internal Affairs, this workshop will introduce the standards, show you how to analyse identity related risk and how to choose logon strengths for your online services.

D. Risk Assessment for Online Services

Existing Government directives require an agency to undertake a non-identity related assessment of its online services.  This workshop presents the All-of-government Authentication Programme’s implementation of Risk Assessment based on AS/NZS4360 Risk Management standard.  The full day session aims to support agencies integrating their online services with the GLS and therefore has an Information Technology flavor.  The content of the workshop is focused on those within government, who will be responsible for risk management either as part of a project or on a routine basis.
