Microsoft G2009 licensing agreement

Since 2000, government has negotiated a series of three-yearly licensing agreements with Microsoft Corporation that allow New Zealand public sector agencies to purchase Microsoft software products.

The Microsoft licensing agreements deliver value-for-money by leveraging the combined buying power of the New Zealand public sector to provide significant price discounts under terms acceptable to government.

The latest of these agreements (the "G2006 Framework Agreement") was negotiated during 2005-06 and expires in June 2009.

The State Services Commission is leading the negotiation of the next three-yearly agreement (the "G2009 Framework Agreement") on behalf of the public sector and has established a steering committee comprised of senior executives from a range of public sector agencies to provide it with high-level advice.

The negotiation concluded during May 2009 and the SSC has issued a press release on the outcome of the negotiation.
