Future Services Overview

The future vision for online service delivery transformation

The long term vision for igovt is to offer a comprehensive suite of online identity management services using a common, purpose-built platform for transacting securely on the Internet.  This concept identifies authoritative data sources across government and investigates how to make it available for people and businesses to use under their control, when they want, in a privacy-protective, secure, closed federated system.

There is much personal data held about individuals across government agencies.  This data is often inconsistent and of poor quality leading to lower quality decision making.  As a result users (people and businesses), rather than government, are obliged to integrate services across government agency silos.  For the last 200 years people have had to shuffle paper documents between government agencies.  This is slow and expensive for users and government.

The Government Online Attribute Assertion Meta System (GOAAMS) will replace this with a meta-system of online, real-time assertions, from authoritative source direct to where it’s needed when a user wants it.  Authoritative information held across government about people and organisations will be made available to users to use when they want to interact with government agencies online.

The metasystem will be built through cooperation between the government agencies that have the authoritative data and the government agencies where users want to use that data.

Features of the Government Online Attribute Assertion Meta System (GOAAMS)

  • Secure, closed federated system.
  • Government agencies are both providers of authoritative information and its consumers.
  • Highly privacy protective - information passes through, no record of what was sent is maintained, only the fact of sending.
  • Integration and coordination layer to facilitate joined up service.
  • Loosely coupled, technology-neutral framework.
  • Under the full control of the user.
  • Common front end for users – igovt.

The Government Online Attribute Assertion Meta System (GOAAMS) virtual lab

GTS set up a 'virtual lab' in order to develop the Government Online Attribute Assertion Meta System (GOAAMS) concept to reality.  The lab has been focused on prototyping business process flow for agencies and simulating user experiences.  We have a series of demos that illustrate different scenarios.  For more information about the GOAAMS lab contact gts@dia.govt.nz
