Building strong telecommunications foundations
24 September, 2008
The Department of Building and Housing (DBH) is the 22nd agency to join the Government Shared Network (GSN).
DBH joined the GSN as part of a strategic review of its telecommunications infrastructure.
The GSN is a dedicated, high speed, secure network operated by the Government Technology Services unit within the State Service Commission. DBH is using the GSN internet.connect solution which will provide managed and secure access to the internet.
Ann Clark, Deputy Chief Executive, Corporate at DBH said, “We are looking to extract best value from our telecommunications infrastructure through a combination of GSN and voice over IP technology supplied by Gen-i, and enable critical business changes at DBH”.
The implementation of the network will be overseen by a project board that comprises representatives from DBH users, Government Technology Services and Gen-i.
