SSC sets bold Digital Strategy 2.0 targets
Technology a key Development Goal for State Services
24 September, 2008
The State Services Commission (SSC) says it's working on some bold targets to help achieve the visions set by the Digital Strategy 2.0.
NZ Government CIO Laurence Millar says using technology to transform the provision of services for New Zealanders is one of the key development goals for New Zealand's State Services.
We have a State Services designed to meet the needs of the industrial age, we must transform that to one that meets the needs of the information age.
For New Zealanders to interact effectively with government, they need open access to public information in a way that suits them and when it suits them while respecting privacy considerations – the right information, in the right place, at the right time.
The SSC has several programmes of work underway to achieve this, ranging from aggregating state sector demand for broadband services to deciding how freely available public information should be, Laurence Millar said.
