New online service for NZ employers

5 July 2005

NetworkZ Online will be launched in July 2005 and will help connect skilled people overseas looking for jobs in New Zealand with employers who are experiencing skill shortages.

NetworkZ Online will provide a database and information service that employers and overseas skilled workers can access on www.immigration.govt.nz.

Employers can use NetworkZ Online to register job vacancies and search for candidates with the skills theyre looking for and skilled workers can use it to find suitable job positions in New Zealand and register information about their skills, experience, qualifications and the places in New Zealand they would like to work.

NetworkZ Online is able to provide the user with a sophisticated search and match procedure that will filter and identify relevant opportunities - so employers receive a shortlist of relevant potential employees or a potential candidate receives a selection of job opportunities that match their skill-set.

The service is also linked to Immigrations internal customer databases. This connection will provide employers with information on the immigration status and eligibility of a potential candidate, together with their skills and work experience. For employers, this information will vastly assist in ascertaining the suitability of a candidate for a job.

Once the employer has found a potential employee, the system will help both parties to make contact.

A key principle of the system will be to provide users - employers and skilled workers - with robust assurance that information provided by this service is genuine, reliable and secure, and that both parties have been authenticated to a reasonable extent.

The Department of Labour plays a key role in New Zealand industry by providing high quality and credible labour market information and actively seeking suitable migrants and skilled workers who can help New Zealand businesses grow, innovate, and contribute to our economy and society.
