UK interoperability framework and metadata standard released

May 2002

The UK Office of the e-Envoy has recently published a metadata standard similar to the NZGLS that is already in use in New Zealand. The standard will be used to build an online catalogue of services available locally through both government organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

The UK Office of the e-Envoy recently made version 4 of the UK e-Government Interoperability Framework available. Like the New Zealand framework, the UK e-GIF sets out standards for the exchange of electronic information between public agencies. This version of the framework includes metadata standards for the first time.
