State Services Commission enters negotiations with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young for an e-procurement system
22 February 2002
The State Services Commission, sponsor of the Government E-procurement project, is entering into final negotiations with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young for the provision of an e-procurement system to be used by government agencies.
The proposed system, based on Oracle software, will be piloted between April and September 2002 with five government agencies.
If the pilot is successful the system will be made available from October 2002 for use by government departments, Crown entities (including health and tertiary education entities) and local authorities.
Seven consortia responded last year to the Governments call for proposals to provide this system.
Brendan Boyle, Director of the E-government Unit at the State Services Commission, says the Unit was pleased with the quality and depth of the e-procurement proposals received.
We now look forward to concluding contract negotiations with Cap Gemini and believe that the proposed system offers great advantages to government agencies by providing a more streamlined and cost effective method of interacting with businesses, Brendan Boyle said.
Please note: No further comment will be made until the negotiation process has concluded.
