Secure Electronic Environment (S.E.E.™) delivers solutions and information
July 2001
After a successful secure email pilot between three government agencies in late 2000, the solution, including standard contracts with accredited suppliers and a proven configuration, has been made available for implementation in other agencies. Fifteen are expected to do so before June 2002. Interest in the solution has also been expressed by private sector.
Discussion papers on a S.E.E.™ Public Key Infrastructure and Directory are available for review on http://www.e-government.govt.nz/see/.
Another output from the S.E.E. project is the creation of a website bringing together all public information about security processes and policies in government - www.security.govt.nz. The following statement introduces the site:
"Government agencies provide services and collect and disseminate information essential to New Zealand society. This also makes them a target for intelligence gathering or attacks. Security is used to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of people, processes and information. The use of standards across all of government provides citizens and business with confidence that government systems provide adequate security and privacy safeguards."
