Access Control
This is how authorised privileges are provided to an individual. It is the mechanism that controls at a low level, what actions an individual can perform, or will be performed on their behalf. Authorisation gives permission for an activity; Access Control conducts the activity.
Accessibility
Accessibility refers to ensuring that content can be navigated and read by everyone, regardless of location, experience, or the type of computer technology used.
Accreditation
Accreditation conveyed by the E-Government Unit of the State Services Commission, acting on behalf of the S.E.E. Manager, that an Accredited Supplier's Accredited Software passes the S.E.E. Mail Tests and its management procedures are satisfactory for the continued secure operation of S.E.E. Mail. "Accredited" shall have a corresponding meaning.
Accreditation Authority
Accredits SecureMail Vendors, products and Gateways for compliance with the SecureMail requirements.
Accredited Party
A supplier or Participating Agency who has demonstrated their Accredited Software passes the S.E.E. Mail Tests to the satisfaction of the S.E.E. Manager.
Accredited Software
The executable version and configuration of the server to server secure email application software as specified in Schedules A and B of the "Secure Electronic Environment (S.E.E.) Project, Agency to Agency Secure Email template contract".
Accredited Supplier
A supplier who has successfully demonstrated their Accredited Software passes the S.E.E. Mail Tests.
Administrative Metadata
Metadata about NZGLS metadata, which tracks versions of the NZGLS standard being employed, and tracks changes and updates to an agency's own records.
Agency
A general term for an organisation, most often referring to an organisation in the State sector.
Agency Leader
Agency representative such as a senior manager whose role is to drive the implementation of e-government in their organisation.
Australian Government Locator Service (AGLS)
A discovery level metadata set for government resources. NZGLS is heavily based on AGLS. More information is available here.
Authentication or Authentication of identity
The process of initially establishing that a person is genuinely who they say they are, and the process of establishing an authenticated online session between a government agency and an authenticated individual.
Authorisation
Whereas authentication is used to establish the identity of a party to a transaction, authorisation is used to determine what privileges that party will enjoy. With typical online applications, individuals are authorised to view/change information related to themselves and conduct transactions such as purchases, using their own resources.
