Goal, Vision and Objectives

Goal

To achieve the government vision of using information and communications technologies to provide better government services and information in a way which is convenient and easy to use by all people.

Vision

The New Zealand government portal is a web site through which people can quickly, easily and conveniently find information and services across the whole of government in New Zealand. It will provide an international example of a people-focused approach because of its emphasis on a positive user experience when dealing with government over the Internet.

Objectives

• Provide easier access to government information and services for people, communities and businesses who wish to use the Internet for this purpose

• Provide people with an overview of government, including regional and local government, through the one web site

• Provide navigation and content that is user focussed

• Present a friendlier face of government to people

• Become the preferred way for people to deal with government
