Security Provided By S.E.E. Mail

You are viewing an ARCHIVED page.

Protection for Internet e-Mail

S.E.E. Mail provides protection for your message traveling over the Internet, by encrypting (converting to a secret code) your message and only sending it to recipients in SEEMAIL agencies.

NOTE: The Subject, From: and To: addresses are never encrypted. Do not include sensitive information in the Subject of the message.

S.E.E. Mail is not intended to protect e-mail as it travels within the internal network of a Participating Agency. This is already covered by the instructions mandated in the "Security In Government Sector" manual.

Verification of senders

The S.E.E. Mail system provides an assurance that a message came from a specific S.E.E. Mail Participating Agency. This component prevents people or organisations from posing as S.E.E. Mail Participating Agencies and sending fake messages.

NOTE: S.E.E. Mail can't prove the identity of the individual sender within the agency.
