Appendix 1 - Proposed Common Reference Schema

The following Schema description is proposed for consideration. It is anticipated that, once feedback and recommendations arising from the consultative process have been weighed and incorporated, the final statement will form the e-government Common Reference Schema. Subsequent evolution of this schema will be overseen by the Directory's governing body.

Note that this schema description is a statement about data, not about process. The goal of the Directory is to be the definitive repository for information about people, organisations and other items. By itself it does not mandate process; however, it plays a key role in facilitating process..

Attribute

A proposed describing 'field' for consideration for the final Schema

Formally: a property of the Object being described

LDAP Name

Plain text: the standard attribute name that best fits the need at hand.

(In parenthesis): an alternative name, a contender or another option

"?": a hesitation, not sure if this should be handled in this way

[In square brackets]: the name should have the same properties as is normally associated with the attribute name cited

Italicised: A proposed name for the attribute to augment the standard
