8 Deployment and Implementation

8.1.1 This section addresses the issue of 'where to from here?' As noted in section 4, issues related to implementation are outside the scope of this paper, but it may be useful here to give an indication of the major steps that will be necessary in order to bring the S.E.E. Directory into operation.

8.1.2 The proposed 'roadmap' for introduction of a S.E.E. Directory is shown in the following diagram.

A 'roadmap'for the introduction of S.E.E. Directory.

8.1.3 The diagram shows two main stages, covering the periods up to and following acceptance of this strategy.

8.1.4 The first stage is concerned with finalisation of this report and its progress through the approval process up to and including its acceptance by the S.E.E> Steering Group. This will involve the following steps:

  • Final consultation/peer review with stakeholders (see Appendix 2)

  • Reviewed final draft to S.E.E. Steering Group for approval

  • Approved final draft circulated to Agencies for consultation and comment

  • Version 1.0 of the Directory Paper released, incorporating Agency feedback

  • Acceptance of final paper by the S.E.E. Steering Group

8.1.5 Assuming that the paper is accepted, the next step will be to form teams to take responsibility for the areas of governance, technical implementation, standards and taxonomy, system architecture and interfacing. Guided by the governing body, these teams will be charged with producing detailed consolidated recommendations in their respective areas.

8.1.6 Next steps will include the following:

  • Set up a test laboratory

  • Select candidate participants for a pilot

  • Undertake a pilot implementation and carry out evaluation

  • Following successful completion of the pilot, go live progressively.
