Formulate an Internal Marketing Strategy

Once you have become a member of the Public Sector Intranet the next step is to formulate an internal marketing strategy. This will outline the steps that your organisation will take to ensure that staff within the agency understand and use the Public Sector Intranet.

The Public Sector Intranet team understands how crucial the internal marketing of each agency is to the success of the intranet. They have developed a 'How to promote the Public Sector Intranet' toolkit with ideas, resources and examples to help new members develop a successful marketing strategy. This will be available via the Public Sector Intranet.

What are some effective ways to market the intranet?

  • Post flyers introducing the new intranet and its functions in staff areas.
  • Inform staff about the Public Sector Intranet and forward announcements about new content when these come out.
  • Add deep links and links to the Public Sector Intranet homepage onto the agency intranet.
  • Utilise agency meetings involving large numbers of staff members to demonstrate or discuss the intranet. Make sure the talk is tailored to the audience e.g. tell them how it can help them do their job more effectively.
  • Organise demonstrations of the Public Sector Intranet and its content.
  • Encourage staff in the correct areas to use the HR Workspace, Policy Workspace, Public Sector Directory and Cabinet Workspace.
  • Incorporate Public Sector Intranet demonstrations and discussions into staff training programmes.
