Provide ways for government agencies to collaborate in
buying goods and services through syndicated procurement, adoption of
best practice processes and sharing knowledge.
Syndicated procurement
A Syndicated Procurement (SP) Unit has been established within the
State Services Commission to promote collaboration and best-practice
procurement across government departments and agencies.
This is achieved by focusing on three primary objectives:
- Financial savings for the whole of government through improved procurement practice
- Increased knowledge of best procurement practice and principles. Increased access to procurement related resources and expertise. Both leading to a raised level of procurement understanding and capability within government agencies.
- Increased participation and collaboration in syndicated procurement initiatives across government
Syndicated procurement involves groups of government agencies consolidating their procurement requirements to optimize purchasing power, resulting in savings from lower contracted prices for some goods and services, improved terms and conditions, and reduced costs of tendering. The SP Unit is a coordination body that doesn’t run any of these tenders itself, the lead agencies continue to do this for their own needs and on behalf of other agencies.
What this site can offer agencies
Government agencies can use this site to access a 'shared workspace' developed for procurement practitioners. This workspace provides a variety of purchasing related information, including current and future SP opportunities, procurement training courses, ‘lessons learnt’ from other agencies, procurement operational help and contract advice, and links to other procurement related sites.
Access to this shared workspace is restricted through log-ins because of market sensitive information. If you already have been given a login, you can access the workspace.
If you are involved in procurement or contracting, employed by a government agency and wish to have access to the workspace, please email us at procurement@ssc.govt.nz for a log-in.
What this site can offer supplier
Suppliers can find out how SP Unit will affect them, and also access freely available procurement information through the public links on these pages.
