Online authentication - RFI
Request for Information (RFI): Online Authentication Design
As part of a work programme directed by Cabinet in June 2003, the E-government Unit (EGU) within the State Services Commission (SSC) will design and scope an all-of-government authentication solution (see www.e-government.govt.nz/authentication/)
The close-off date for responses to this RFI was Monday 1 December 2003.
Summary of RFI responses
A Request for Information (RFI) for the Authentication for e-government solution was advertised in November 2003. The purpose of the RFI was to open a dialogue with industry and other communities of interest, to ensure to the maximum extent possible that industry input and comments were given proper and due consideration in development of authentication design -in particular the area around the Key provision (authentication mechanism) aspect.
A total of 24 responses were received. These ranged from software development companies, to service providers and to communities of interest representing a mix of New Zealand and international individuals and organisations.
This report summarises the information received in response to the RFI. Any information received that could identify any particular respondent or is commercially sensitive has not been included in this summary.
The E-government Unit of the State Services Commission would like to thank and acknowledge the time and resources of all of the respondents. Their contribution has provided a wider perspective to the initiative and is very much appreciated.
The RFI document is available as Word [300 KB] or PDF [390 KB]. Please note that the design concepts in this document will be refined following the RFI process.
