Overview
A range of individuals, agencies and organisations have provided input and comment throughout each stage of the authentication initiative.
Industry organisations and government agencies have provided ongoing input since the all-of-government authentication project first commenced. This has included substantive comment on the high-level models developed during the ‘Conceptual Solutions Design Phase’ of the project . It also included providing detailed feedback on the design of the business processes to support a full authentication solution that was completed in the ‘Detailed Design Phase’.
Input from members of the public has also played a part in the initiative. Between February and the end of April 2003, a public consultation was undertaken to allow individuals to express their views on how online authentication for government transactions should work and which agencies should play a role in the scheme.
Following the public consultation, it was decided that reviews would be undertaken to determine what the detailed privacy implications of all-of-government authentication might be, and whether there are any particular considerations relating to Māori tikanga.
At the same time, detailed input was sought from IT vendors and industry stakeholders regarding the technical options for implementing all-of-government authentication.
The diagram below shows each phase of the authentication initiative and highlights the major consultation that has taken place.
