Service delivery architecture
The current version of the service delivery architecture for government is available here.
Overview
The e-services work programme will:
- Identify and prioritise how government services will be brought online and made available via the portal
- Develop guidelines, procedures and methodologies to assist agencies and clusters of agencies to integrate services delivered electronically
- Share best practice in successful electronic service delivery.
Well-designed e-services have the potential to solve deep-seated service-delivery problems, without necessarily requiring structural change within organisations. Integrated and well-coordinated e-services promise efficiency gains for agencies and outcomes that align with the recommendations of the Report of the Advisory Group on the Review of the Centre.
First phase
In the first phase of the e-services work programme, agencies provided comprehensive information about their services. Priority was given to services of most importance to users. This became the basis for the metadata repository that now drives the government web portal. The data will also be used to identify potential opportunities to integrate service delivery across agencies or within clusters of agencies.
Second phase
The second phase of the e-services project aims to support agencies in achieving more integrated and efficient electronic service delivery. A key component in this is a service-delivery architecture for e-government.
The service-delivery architecture provides a common framework and language for end-to-end service delivery across the whole of government. The architecture is an integral part of the e-government strategy and will continue to evolve as the programme moves forward. It also provides a bridge between the e-government strategy, on the one hand, and the common technical components of e-government, on the other.
