The State Services Commission today released the results of the 2008 Government Use of ICT Survey.

The information from the survey will assist in facilitating better coordination of ICT investments across the State sector, and provide insight into opportunities for improving productivity gains in individual organisations and the sector as a whole.

Using ICT to cut back on work travel

SSC encourages sustainable transport practices

People working in the state sector are being encouraged to make more use of ICT tools in an effort to meet a 2010 deadline to cut back on work travel by 15 percent.

The target is part of Government aims to accelerate sustainable transport practices and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the state services.

The State Services Commission (SSC) recently called for information seeking ideas on how technology such as video-conferencing and teleworking could help meet the 2010 target.

National Broadband Map a key tool for Broadband Investment Fund applicants

The State Services Commission (SSC) says its National Broadband Map will be a valuable tool for applicants to the newly launched Broadband Investment Fund.

The National Broadband Map (broadbandmap.govt.nz) charts New Zealand's Broadband landscape and provides information and tools to help demand aggregation and infrastructure planning.
